Introduction

At JM Renewables, we’re passionate about transforming homes into eco-friendly powerhouses, and our recent project in Warrington, Cheshire, perfectly illustrates our dedication to renewable energy. We recently completed a solar panel, battery storage and EV charger installation for a detached property, harnessing the abundant power of the sun to fuel sustainable living.

Methodology

For this project, we opted for 16 high-performance Trina solar panels, strategically positioned on the south-facing tiled roof of the property. These panels boast an impressive 21.8% maximum efficiency, ensuring optimal energy generation even on cloudy days. We split the solar installation into two arrays, each comprising eight panels, and routed the cables to the inverter located conveniently in the garage.

Choosing the correct inverter was crucial for seamless operation and long-term reliability. We selected the GivEnergy Hybrid PV Battery Inverter for its excellent performance and robust build. This intelligent system not only efficiently converts solar energy into usable electricity but also manages battery charging and discharging for maximum savings. Paired with the GivEnergy 9.5kWh battery, excess solar energy generated during the day is stored for use at night, reducing reliance on the national grid and ensuring uninterrupted power supply.

Additionally, we would incorporate a MyEnergy Zappi EV Charge Point into the setup, catering to the homeowner’s electric car needs. This sleek and efficient charger not only replenishes the vehicle’s battery but also prioritises renewable energy usage, aligning perfectly with the homeowner’s sustainability goals. With built-in WiFi and Ethernet connectivity, monitoring and controlling energy consumption is a breeze, helping the residents to take charge of their energy usage.

Installation

One of the key factors that streamlined the installation process was the availability of space in the garage for housing the inverter and battery. This not only simplifies the setup but also ensures easier maintenance down the line. The MyEnergy Zappi EV Charge Point, with its versatile Eco & ECO+ modes, seamlessly integrates into the existing system, allowing homeowners to optimise energy usage based on their household needs.

Outcome

Thanks to our meticulous planning and high-quality components, the residents now enjoy a sustainable energy system that not only reduces their carbon footprint but also slashes their electricity bills. With the power of the sun harnessed and stored efficiently, coupled with intelligent charging for their electric vehicle, they’re moving towards a greener, brighter future while enjoying peace of mind and significant returns on their investment.
