Battery Storage

Battery Storage Installer in North Wales

Soaring energy prices means there’s never been a better time to install a solar and battery storage system as they can help you make huge savings on your energy bills. If you want to avoid high energy bills and reduce grid reliance, then installing solar panels and a battery is an option to look at.

JM Renewable Solutions Ltd have a team of highly qualified and experienced electricians that have collectively installed hundreds of battery storage systems. Batteries are used to store excess solar energy generated during sunlight hours and then used during the evening to reduce your reliance on the grid.

Households with solar panels and a battery use about 80% of the energy they generate whilst properties without a battery only use about 40% of the energy they generate, with the rest of the energy going back into the grid. Whether you are a domestic or commercial client looking to reduce your energy bills, we can install the best battery storage systems to make your solar system as efficient as possible and ensure you can use as much FREE energy as possible.

How does a battery work?

A battery stores the energy generated by a solar panel. When sunlight hits the solar panel, it generates electricity which is then stored in the battery. The energy stored in the battery can then be used to power electrical devices when there is no sun or during a power outage. The battery has an inverter that converts the direct current (DC) energy stored in the battery to alternating current (AC) energy that can be used to power electrical devices.

Is battery storage IN North Wales worth it?

After analysing your energy consumption, we can determine if it is worth installing a battery system. Many working households will not use the energy that their solar panels are generating between the working hours of 9-5pm. In these circumstances, Battery storage can be beneficial as you’ll be able to store the energy generated from your solar panels and use it when it’s needed.

However, clients using high-need electrical products during the day like air source heat pumps and electric vehicle charge points, will use more solar generated energy and therefore not fully charge the battery, meaning it may not be as beneficial. We can discuss your individual energy needs and decide if a battery is a good option for you.

How much money can I save?

The amount of money you save is dependent on the number of solar panels installed, the size of the battery installed and how much the battery rate of charge and discharge. Our quotes will highlight how much money you will save by installing a bespoke solar and battery storage system.

Typically, you can expect a return on investment between 3-5 years and save a significant amount of money during the lifetime of your solar and battery system. For example, we recently estimated that a 4 bed house with high energy needs would save £36,100 over 25 years with their 4kW Solar system and 9.5 kWh Givenergy battery.

*All quotes are dependent on the client’s average energy usages, prices and will vary.

Harness the sun’s energy and store cheaper energy.

Make your solar system as efficient as possible and harness your own free energy by installing a battery to store excess energy for use when needed.

5 Battery Storage advantages

Stores excess energy
Provides back up power during grid shortages or emergencies
Charge the battery at night using an off-peak electricity rate
Gain energy independence
Reduce reliance on fossil fuels and promote cleaner energy use

Octopus Flux

Store cheap energy and get paid to export

Firstly, you need a solar system and battery that has been installed by an MCS accredited renewable energy company like JM Renewable Solutions to be eligible and apply for Octopus Flux energy rates.

Octopus Flux is an energy electricity tariff designed exclusively for solar and battery owners. Use your battery system to store energy using a cheaper nighttime off-peak energy rate, for use in the daytime. For example, the average electricity rate during peak day times from Octopus Energy is 38p p/kWh and 16p p/kWh during the off-peak night-time rate – More than half the price of day time rates! On top of this, you can also get paid to export excess energy – up to 32p/kWh.

Use Octopus Flux to unleash the potential of solar and battery storage to reduce your bills. To switch to Octopus Flux, you’ll need to be an Octopus Energy customer and have a smart meter Octopus can connect to.

What is a Smart Meter?

A Smart Meter is a clever device that automatically sends you regular meter readings, so you know how much energy you’re using and how much you’re spending. You’ll be able to unlock a world of smart tariffs like ‘Octopus Go’ which allow you to access cheaper energy rates. Your smart meter can even pay you to export excess battery energy!

Which battery is best?

With years of experience, we have installed a variety of batteries across North Wales. Based on your energy consumption, we can advise what size battery is suitable for your energy needs and budget.

The brands we install include:

My Energi

Gain Energy Independence

Reduce your reliance on the National Grid

Store excess energy generated by your solar panels in the daytime and use it at night when the sun is down. Use Octopus Flux to also export excess energy back to the grid and get paid to sell your own green energy.

0% VAT

On Battery storage systems

From 1 February 2024, the Government cut VAT to zero for domestic battery storage systems. Previously, installations had to be combined with solar to qualify for the benefit.

It’s important to note that this 0% VAT period will only be in effect until March 31, 2027, giving homeowners a three year window to take advantage of this cost-saving opportunity.

Keep your lights on during a blackout

With a Tesla Powerwall

Tesla Powerwall battery systems can generate energy in the event of a power outage, giving you energy independence and peace of mind. Givenergy batteries can also be designed to continue energy generation without grid supply.

Did you know we are TESLA certified Powerwall installers and Givenergy approved installers?

We also won ‘BEST REGIONAL SOLAR INSTALLER 2023’ at the Wales Energy Efficiency Awards.

Frequently Asked Questions

All batteries that we fit can be installed inside our outside buildings. We can install canopies to further protect batteries that are installed outdoors.

Various factors affect the price of battery installation, which include:

  • Energy consumption and needs
  • How many batteries are needed to meet your energy needs
  • The brand of battery
  • The model of battery i.e. Givenergy can come in energy sizes from 2.6kWh to 13.5kWh
  • Your budget and preference

We can discuss various battery products and find the right battery for you. Did you know we have a showroom at our premises where you can see the products first hand? If you would like to discuss more about our battery storage products, get in touch and request a quote or appointment.

This is unique to each property and what you want to achieve. We will need to take into consideration how much energy your solar system is able to generate which can be dependent on roof size and roof orientation. An energy survey will determine how much energy your household consumes during daylight hours and find out how much it requires in the afternoon. If you want to save as much money as possible, you’ll need enough battery storage to cover your energy usage when the solar panels are not generating electricity. We can advise what battery system is most suitable for your needs with a free quote.

Most batteries have a guarantee for 10 years but they will generally last up to and over 20 years. Batteries, like solar panels, do degrade over time but at a slow rate.
