Introduction
In Dyserth, a picturesque village in Denbighshire, North Wales, we recently completed the installation of a 5kW Mitsubishi Ecodan Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) for a homeowner. This project was undertaken as part of the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), allowing the customer to replace their outdated oil boiler with a greener, more efficient heating solution.
Methodology
The customer’s previous heating system, an old oil boiler, was inefficient and costly to maintain. The homeowner recognised the opportunity to upgrade to a renewable energy system and wanted a modern and environmentally friendly alternative. As part of our service, we handled the application for Boiler Upgrade Scheme funding, simplifying the process for the customer.
The property, recently renovated with significant investment, required a reliable and efficient heating solution which aligned with the owner’s desire to lower energy costs and reduce their carbon footprint. After conducting a detailed assessment, our team recommended the 5kW Mitsubishi Ecodan ASHP. This compact, single-fan monobloc unit utilises advanced technologies and R32 refrigerant, making it an excellent choice for domestic properties with modest heating demands.
Installation
The ASHP was installed on an external wall, with all pipework and wiring carefully routed back into the property. Once installed, the system underwent rigorous testing to confirm its functionality and efficiency. To ensure the customer felt confident using their new system, our installers explained its features, including guidance on optimising performance and understanding its controls.
Outcome
The homeowner expressed their satisfaction with both the installation process and the final result. They praised the professionalism and expertise of our team, noting the comprehensive survey, clear communication, and competitive pricing. They described the transition to an ASHP as seamless and were pleased with the technology and workmanship.
Thanks to the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, the homeowner received £7,500 towards the installation cost, making this green investment more accessible. As ASHPs are typically more expensive than traditional fossil fuel systems, such funding schemes are essential in encouraging wider adoption of renewable technologies. This project has delivered significant environmental benefits and helped the customer achieve lower energy bills, showcasing the value of sustainable heating solutions for homeowners across North Wales.
