26kW Solar PV Installation for Ysgol Ffordd Dyffryn

Introduction

Earlier this year our team completed a solar installation for Ysgol Ffordd Dyffryn, a primary school situated in the picturesque seaside town of Llandudno on the North Wales coastline. Catering to children aged 3-11, the school is nestled within the bustling town and serves as a cornerstone of the local community. This case study outlines the process and outcomes of this renewable energy project.

Methodology

To determine the optimal solar solution for Ysgol Ffordd Dyffryn, our team conducted a thorough evaluation of the available roof space. After careful consideration, we recommended a 26.04kW solar system comprising 62 high-efficiency 420W panels. These panels were strategically spread across five rooftops, chosen for their favourable orientation to the sun. We carefully selected the components to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability, aiming to deliver a robust and sustainable energy solution for the school.

Installation

To minimise disruption to the school, our team scheduled the installation outside of school hours. The solar panels were securely mounted onto rails and connected to the school’s electrical systems. Our thorough installation processes ensured that the panels were both securely positioned and optimally oriented for sunlight capture. Upon completion, a comprehensive testing phase was conducted to verify that the entire system was fully operational and performing as expected.

Outcome

The newly installed solar system is projected to generate 23,380kWh of clean electricity annually. Our renewable energy solution will significantly reduce the school’s carbon footprint, saving approximately 4.52 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year, which is the equivalent of planting 208 trees annually. This initiative aligns perfectly with the school’s motto of “Inspire, Aspire, Make a difference!” by setting a practical example of environmental care and sustainability.

The installation not only helps the environment but also provides economic benefits. By generating clean energy, the school can expect substantial savings on their energy bills and protection against future energy cost increases.

In conclusion, the successful installation of the solar system at Ysgol Ffordd Dyffryn shows the school’s commitment to sustainability and environmental education. The project not only achieves significant environmental and economic benefits but also inspires the next generation to embrace a greener future.
