Background
Moelfre Primary School is a small school located in the village of Moelfre on the Isle of Anglesey. The school has been in operation for over 50 years and has been looking for ways to reduce its carbon footprint and become more environmentally friendly. The school was using oil boilers to heat the building, which were becoming increasingly inefficient and costly.
Solution
JM Renewable Solutions Ltd were approached by the school to provide a solution to replace the oil boilers. After assessing the school’s energy requirements, JM Renewable Solutions recommended the installation of 5 x Stiebel Eltron Air Source Heat Pumps. These heat pumps are designed to provide efficient and cost-effective heating by extracting heat from the outside air and transferring it to the building’s heating system.
Installation
The installation process took two weeks, during which time the JM Renewable Solutions team worked efficiently to ensure the seamless and timely completion of the project. The team had to remove the existing oil boilers and install the five air source heat pumps. They also had to install new pipework and radiators to ensure that the heating system was fully operational.
Benefits
The new heating system has provided the school with a number of benefits, including a significant reduction in the school’s carbon footprint. By removing the oil boilers, the school has reduced its dependence on fossil fuels, making it more environmentally friendly. The heat pumps are also very efficient, providing 100% of the heating demand for the school. This has resulted in a reduction in energy bills, providing the school with significant cost savings. Additionally, the air source heat pumps are very low maintenance, meaning that the school does not have to worry about costly repairs or replacements.
Conclusion
The installation of the five Stiebel Eltron air source heat pumps has been a great success for Moelfre Primary School. The school is now more energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, and have reduced their energy bill by 35%. JM Renewable Solutions Ltd are proud to have been a part of this project and looks forward to continuing to work with schools and other organisations to help them reduce their carbon footprint and become more energy-efficient.
