Introduction
We recently completed a solar panel installation in Llangoed, a picturesque village just north of Beaumaris on the Isle of Anglesey. The homeowner was replacing the roof of their bungalow and recognised it as the ideal opportunity to futureproof the property by integrating solar power.
Methodology
Our team began with a detailed site survey to assess the roof space, sunlight exposure, and the customer’s long-term energy needs. The aim was to maximise energy capture while delivering a strong financial return. We recommended an 8.8kW solar PV system, consisting of twenty 440W solar modules paired with an 8kW Solis inverter. To enhance kerb appeal, the customer opted for an in-roof mounting solution, seamlessly integrating the panels into the new roof structure.
Installation
The installation was carried out using a GSE In-Roof mounting kit to provide a sleek, flush finish. The all-black panels delivered a premium aesthetic while also reducing the number of roof tiles required, lowering material costs. Our engineers split the panels into two arrays and connected them to the Solis inverter, positioned in a cupboard for easy access and monitoring. The inverter’s advanced dual MPPT technology ensures optimal power generation across the two arrays, while its 98% peak efficiency minimises energy losses. Following the installation, we carried out rigorous system testing and certification, ensuring everything operated safely and at peak performance.
Outcome
The finished solar PV system is projected to generate around 7,330kWh annually, equating to an estimated saving of £1,833 per year on electricity costs. The customer was delighted with the system and the long-term energy independence it provided through the installation. By combining a roof replacement with solar panel installation, the homeowner not only reduced their reliance on rising energy prices but also increased the property’s overall value.
