Introduction
In Prestatyn, a seaside town in Denbighshire, we recently completed a solar panel installation as part of a bungalow renovation. The client’s aim was to integrate solar panels into the new roof structure, optimising both functionality and aesthetics. By using a GSE integration system, we ensured the solar panels were installed flush with the roof, offering a sleek appearance for an affordable price.
Methodology
Our process began with a thorough assessment of the property and its renovation plans. Collaborating with the architect, we designed a bespoke renewable energy system comprising 16 in-roof solar panels, estimated to generate 7kW of electricity. Integrating the panels directly into the roof structure had a dual purpose, serving as both a renewable energy source and a structural part of the roof. Special attention was given to ventilation to ensure optimal panel performance on hot days.
Installation
To ensure an efficient installation, our in-house MCS certified team coordinated closely with the roofer. The installation schedule was carefully synchronised with the roof replacement to minimise disruptions. The GSE integration system allowed for quick and efficient installation, reducing labour time and costs. Once installed, our team connected, tested and signed off the system to confirm its performance and functionality.
Outcome
The completed in-roof photovoltaic system blends seamlessly into the roof design, offering a polished, intentional appearance rather than an afterthought. By combining the solar panel installation with the roof replacement, the project reduced overall disruption and maximised cost efficiency by sharing resources such as scaffolding.
The homeowner was delighted with the results, complimenting the aesthetics of their new roof and praising our team’s professionalism and expertise. This project highlights the benefits of combining home renovations with sustainable energy solutions, achieving both environmental and economic advantages while enhancing property value.
