Introduction
Riverside Business Park, located next to the historic Conwy Castle in North Wales, is a thriving hub hosting a wide variety of organisations, ranging from professional service providers to IT and media specialists, scientists, consultants, and public sector representatives. Known for its tranquil atmosphere and stunning views, the business park sought to enhance its environmental credentials by reducing its reliance on conventional electricity. In pursuit of this goal, the client approached us to install a bespoke solar panel system that would help the businesses onsite to become more sustainable by reducing their carbon footprint.
Methodology
Our team conducted a thorough site survey to assess the available roof space and its orientation. This survey was crucial for determining the optimal system design that would maximise the efficiency of the solar panels. Based on our assessment, we proposed a bespoke 63kW solar photovoltaic system, consisting of 149 high-efficiency Trina 425W solar panels. These panels were strategically distributed across 14 arrays, allowing for optimal use of the available roof space while ensuring maximum exposure to sunlight.
Installation
The 149 Trina panels were mounted using the Van der Valk flat roof mounting system, chosen for its robustness, ease of installation, and ability to withstand all weather conditions. The panels were connected to two Solis inverters, one with a 60kW capacity and another with 4kW. These inverters were selected for their intelligent monitoring capabilities, enabling real-time system performance tracking and ensuring optimised energy production.
Outcome
Upon completion, the client was very impressed with the system’s performance. The 63kW solar installation is expected to generate approximately 49,500 kWh of renewable electricity annually. This energy will contribute directly to reducing electricity consumption across the business park, promoting sustainability, and helping to lower operational costs for the companies on-site.
The solar installation marks a significant step in Riverside’s commitment to improving its environmental impact while maintaining its status as a modern, eco-friendly business facility.
