Introduction
In response to the growing demand for sustainable energy solutions across North Wales, we recently undertook a solar panel and battery storage installation project for a large detached property near Holyhead on Anglesey, an island off the northwest coast of Wales. The objective was to harness renewable energy to power the property while reducing its carbon footprint and energy costs.
Methodology
The plan was to install a total of 31 panels on the property’s slate roof, with each panel capable of producing 430 watts of renewable energy. These panels would be split into two arrays, each connected to Solis inverters. The first array would use an 8kW inverter, while the second array used a 6kW inverter. Additionally, we specified a GivEnergy gateway to ensure an uninterrupted power supply, automatically switching to battery backup in the event of a power cut.
The system would be configured to top up the battery during off-peak hours, leveraging cleaner and more cost-effective energy sources. Subsequently, during peak times, the battery will discharge to maximise savings and efficiency. The GivEnergy 13.5kWh battery, seamlessly integrated into the system, was designated to store excess solar energy generated during the day for evening consumption.
Installation
The installation was performed by our team of experienced technicians who carefully mounted the panels onto the slate roof, ensuring structural integrity and optimal sunlight exposure. Careful attention was paid to the positioning and alignment of the panels to maximise energy capture throughout the day. The Solis inverters were connected to the panel arrays along with the GivEnergy Hybrid PV Battery Inverter.
Thorough testing and commissioning procedures were conducted to verify the functionality and efficiency of the new setup. Our rigorous quality control measures were followed to guarantee the longevity and reliability of the installed components.
Outcome
Following the completion of the installation, the homeowner now enjoys a sustainable and cost-effective energy system. The solar panels and battery storage system have significantly reduced the property’s reliance on the National Grid. By harnessing renewable energy sources and optimising consumption patterns, the property owner is poised to experience substantial savings on energy bills while simultaneously helping reduce climate change.
In conclusion, our successful installation of the solar panel and battery storage system project showcases our dedication to providing innovative and sustainable energy solutions tailored to meet our clients’ individual needs.
