16.9kW Solar PV Installation for Becker Industrial Coatings

Introduction

Becker Industrial Coatings, a global leader in coil coatings and industrial paints with a rich history spanning over 150 years, recently continued its renewable energy journey by installing solar panels at its Merseyside site. With a commitment to sustainability and a goal to achieve 70% renewable energy usage by 2030, Becker’s decision to opt for solar energy aligns with its strategic vision for a greener future. We were delighted to be chosen to design and install the solar panel system, marking a significant step forward in the company’s transition to renewable energy.

Methodology

Our approach began with a comprehensive survey of Becker’s site in Speke, Liverpool, focusing on the flat metal roofs available for solar panel installation. After a thorough assessment, we recommended a solution comprising 39 Trina solar panels, each with a capacity of 435 watts. To ensure optimal performance and longevity, we opted to use the MetaSole mounting kit designed explicitly for boxed profile metal roofs. This innovative mounting system minimises roof penetrations by utilising self-tapping screws instead of traditional hanger bolts, ensuring the integrity of the roofing structure while streamlining the installation process.

Installation

The scheduled installation commenced with precise planning and coordination to minimise disruptions to Becker’s daily operations. Our team of experienced technicians worked diligently to mount the solar panels securely onto the designated roof, adhering to industry best practices and safety protocols. The MetaSole mounting kit helped with the swift and efficient installation, allowing us to complete the 16.9 kW solar array within the defined timeframe. Rigorous quality checks were conducted at every stage to ensure the system’s reliability and performance, providing management with peace of mind regarding its investment in renewable energy.

Outcome

Following the successful installation, Becker Industrial Coatings now boasts a state-of-the-art solar panel system expected to generate 12,023 kWh of power annually. This translates to approximately £3,250 of free electricity per year, significantly reducing Becker’s reliance on the National Grid and advancing its renewable energy objectives. The addition of solar panels into Becker’s infrastructure demonstrates its commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility.

In conclusion, our partnership with Beckers illustrates the potential of renewable energy solutions in driving sustainable business practices. By harnessing solar power, the company not only reduces its carbon footprint but also establishes itself as a trailblazer in the transition towards a greener, more sustainable future.
