14kW Air Source Heat Pump Installation, Newborough

Introduction

Our team recently designed and installed a 14kW Mitsubishi air source heat pump in Newborough (Niwbwrch), a village nestled in the southern corner of the Isle of Anglesey in North Wales. This project was for a substantial new build property with sustainability at its core. To ensure optimal efficiency and performance, we selected the Mitsubishi Ecodan R32 Zubadan monobloc air source heat pump, renowned for its excellent performance and enhanced efficiency.

Methodology

The Mitsubishi Ecodan R32 Zubadan was chosen for its ability to satisfy the heating needs of larger domestic premises, perfectly aligning with the requirements of the newly built property. The patented Zubadan technology distinguishes itself by maintaining a stable heat output even in extremely low temperatures. With an A+++ efficiency rating, the system ensures consistent and reliable heating and boasts low running costs, aligning seamlessly with the owner’s sustainability goals.

We selected a 300L cylinder for hot water to complement the heat pump, complete with advanced hydraulic components and controls. This combination enhances the overall heating system’s efficiency and would provide a comprehensive solution for both central heating and hot water needs. The integrated system is designed to work seamlessly with MELCloud, Mitsubishi’s new-generation Cloud-based control platform. MELCloud empowers users with live controls, scenes, weekly and seasonal timers, offering unparalleled flexibility in managing and optimising the heating system.

Installation

The installation was carefully timed to fit in with the building schedule, ensuring smooth integration of the Mitsubishi Ecodan and the accompanying hot water cylinder. The expertise of our in-house installation team was crucial in positioning the equipment optimally for maximum efficiency. The system’s compatibility with MELCloud simplified the setup of the cloud-based control system, enabling the homeowner to monitor and manage the heating system.

Outcome

The new heating system has shown outstanding performance following the successful installation, meeting the property’s sustainability goals while delivering a stable and efficient heat output. The A+++ efficiency rating and low running costs have provided the client with an environmentally friendly solution and translated into tangible cost savings. This case study shows how using advanced technology and careful planning and installation can create eco-friendly heating for modern homes.
